History

NANTCOL PONIES need very little introduction being synonymous with the show ring for over 40 years. Owned by Mrs Gwen Cooke ,the Nantcol Ponies are still in the forefront of showing successes to this day. Established in 1963 Nantcol initially started out in the world of welsh cobs. During the late 1960's the emphasis changed to Sec B's and riding ponies and considerable success soon followed. The stud's foundation mare was Llechwedd Annwyl II , a 12.2.h Sec B by Kirby Cane Gauntlet. Her offspring were to be the start of a long success story for Nantcol with amonsgt others ..... Natcol Arbennig..... - placed HOYS, RIHS, many champs under saddle. Nantcol Cariadus. - HOYS Q, produced by the Jago family. Nantcol Annwyl - Res Champ Riding pony RIHS. Produced by the Jago's. Nantcol Anturus - Successful lead rein pony. Llechwedd Annwyl II sadly died at the young age of 8 years. Gwen Cook is very proud of the fact that Annwyl was a pure Sec B, establishing the roots of the stud. Nantcol Ponies, continue to be sought after for their well established record within the show ring. Maintaining a link with the initial bloodlines is probably the most famous First Ridden pony in the Country - Nantcol Lady Julia
